High Pressure Beds use High Pressure Quartz Lamps instead of the Long Tube Type Fluorescent Lamps commonly used in tanning equipment. High Pressure Beds use special filters to eliminate nearly all the UVB and certain undesirable wavelengths of UVA to provide the ultimate tanning experience. UVB is a very tightly coiled wavelength and can cause a burn very easily as it’s energy is reflected off the skin. UVA is a very long wavelength and takes a much longer exposure time to cause a burn to the skin. High Pressure Beds are not all created equally, some have UVB outputs as high a 2.5% which is the same or higher than some High Performance VHR Beds. (The reason for this is the overall output is to low to produce a tan without higher UVB output) The problem with this is, the client can burn when doing full session time.
